is it possible to buy an HP laptop without an OS?

I am planning to get myself a laptop within the next one month. Is it possible to buy a HP Pavilion series notebook without an OS (in India)? If not HP, which other company offers notebooks without OSes? I really hate Vista and wish to use Linux. Thanks in advance.

In our place, most shops sell various laptops without an OS pre installed on it. It cost less because you don’t have to pay for the OS.
