How to hook up laptop to HDTV with VGA to HDMI cable?
im trying to hook up my sony vaio laptop to my 50” Sony HDTV to be able to surf the web or watch movies using my bigscreen tv, my tv only has hdmi and my laptop only has vga. when i hook up vga to hdmi and i switch on tv to the proper input but on the tv there’s only black screen
PLZZ HELP whether set something on the laptop or do something on tv or do i need a vga to hdmi converter?
If you have a cable with a vga connector on one end and an HDMI connector on the other end then you should have all that you need, although I’ve never seen this type of cable. Look at the “F” keys at the top of the keyboard. One of them might have what looks like a shape of a display or screen. While the computer is connected to the tv and both are on and the tv is set to the corresponding hdmi input, press the function key and the “F’ key with the screen symbol on it simultaneously. This should get you setup. To return the display to the laptop display just press the same key combo again and the laptop will return the signal to the built in LCD screen
